Knights Valley & Franz Valley Community Volunteer Fire
The Knights Valley Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responder for fire and emergency services in Knights and Franz Valley for over 50 years. However, in late 2019 the County of Sonoma, decided to exit the Fire and Emergency Services business. As a result, the annexation of the Knights and Franz Valley area was completed by the Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District (District), and all of our firefighting responsibilities were transferred to the District in exchange for emergency fire response tax dollars generated. All real property and assets raised by the community remained in control of the KVFV Board.
At the request of the District, the KVFV board (Board) completed District requirements in accordance with California non profit public benefit law, and the Augie Grube Fire Station, formerly the Spencer Lane Fire Station was leased at a $1-year lease to the District in 2022. So, in addition to our responsibilities to the Fire Station, the Board has a new mission to aid in reducing the risk and impacts of wildfire through fuel reduction and community education.

A Firewise community is comprised of a group of committed volunteers who join forces to reduce the impact of wildland fires by mobilizing and informing residents like you about protecting your home, communities and environments from wildfire and to help you do your part to make the community safer. We are your neighbors.
With your help we completed the community assessment, three year action plan and more to receive this designation for Knights Valley. With it comes an annual recertification where we need your help to complete volunteer hours that you've invested working on your property.
